Fishing – Kvikkjokk

Fishing takes many forms, depending on the water, species sought, type of equipment, the location and the experience you seek. From our helicopter base in Kvikkjokk we can offer something special for everyone! We can fly you to waters that would take days to reach by foot. With our experience and local pilots we will take you on an unforgettable helicopter trip to crystal clear fishing waters. The area offers great fly and angling fishing for Brown trout, Arctic char and Grayling.

Below you can read more about some fishing destinations that are easily accessible from our helicopter base in Kvikkjokk. We also fly to Silesjaure, Sitojaure, Arvejåkkå, Kuoddojaure, Råvvejaure just to name a few beautiful fishing destinations.

Fishing Permit and Regulations

We are happy to assist you in preparing your fishing trip but it’s your responsibility to ensure that you know the legislation around fishing in Swedish Lapland as well as having the correct fishing permit.

  • Make sure to have a valid fishing permit for the area where you plan to fish.
  • Use common sense and don’t catch more fish than you can eat for the day.
  • Be sensitive when catch and release fishing.
  • Please ensure that you take home all waste from your fishing trip. For your convenience we have waste containers available on all our helicopter bases.

Lillselet Stream N66.763977° E18.200030°

Located about 30 km south-east of Kvikkjokk. The Lillselet stream offers large species of Brown trout and Grayling. To ensure that the stream is not overexploited you will need a special fishing permit provided free of charge from the Jokkmokk Tourist Information. The length of the stream is about 5 km and is surrounded by beautiful old forest. Best places to put down your base camp is on the south side of the stream.
Species: Grayling, Brown trout.

Located about 33 km to the west of Kvikkjokk. If you are looking for lakes and streams with great fly fishing we can recommend  Sarta valley. Well hidden away in the beautiful Sartavagge valley you will find this beautiful fishing area. The stream starts in the lake Vaimok N67.008695° E16.930202° and finishes after 18 km in the Sarta lake N66.860082° E17.074304°.  Arctic char is mostly found in the still waters while Brown trout can be found in both lakes and streams. Tarraätno N66.979768° E17.334153°

About 8 km to the west of Kvikkjokk along the famous Padjelanta trail you will find Tarraätno and the beautiful Tarra valley. This beautiful valley has a very nice fishing area starting in the lake Tarraätno. From there it runs down to STF Njunjes. Beautifully sized Arctic char and Brown trout can be found in the bigger lake, in the smaller lake Luoppal and the stream itself. The best spots to fish from and camping places are found on the south side of the stream. Species: Arctic Char, Brown Trout.

Fishing licences and regulations

If you want to fish in Swedish Lapland a fishing licence is required. The licence is not expensive and can be purchased at all our helicopter bases. You can also purchase it at Gellivare Tourist information, Jokkmokk Tourist information or online at http://www.svenskafiskevatten.se

Quoted waters (kvoterade vatten)
Some fishing waters require a special license on top of the standard fishing licence. In Swedish we call these waters “kvoterade vatten” as only a certain number of fishermens are allowed to fish there each summer. If you are interested toe fish in these special waters you will need to fill in a application form before the 1st of May and then send it to Länstyrelsens Norrbotten. Be aware that information and application form only exist in Swedish.

Pajelanta trail fishing
Along the famous Padjelanta trail in the Padjelanta nationalpark you are permitted to fish within 1 km of each side of the walking trail. Max two fishes can be keept every day.

Sarek national park fishing
It is forbidden to hunt and fish within the Sarek nationalpark
